DEFORESTATION

DEFINITION: the process of cutting down trees for several reasons

What are trees used for?

  Trees are used for collecting carbon dioxide and converting them into breathable oxygen. If it comes to cutting down trees, then trees are used for their wood.

HOW DOES DEFORESTATION AFFECT THE CLIMATE?

      It affects the climate because since there are lesser trees, the carbon dioxide is trapped in the atmosphere and the weather is getting hotter.

ICE CAP MELT

DEFINITION: the melting ice glaciers/caps  

If all the ice melted what would happen?

    If all the ice melted in Antarctica, the sea levels would rise, leaving some areas buried in seawater. And since Antarctica is 70% of Earth's freshwater in ice, saltwater fish would die, because of insufficient salt levels.

HOW DOES ICE CAP MELT AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE?

              The melting Ice Caps affect climate change by raising water levels, and decreasing the salinity of the seas and oceans, killing lots of saltwater fish.

Asking about Questions

    Hello, there. (I don't know why I do this like I'm in YouTube.)
                       - Me

      Why do we ask questions?
            We ask questions to learn more about a certain topic. If we don't or never ask questions, then we would only know what we would stay with. When reading a book, we ask questions to answer certain events happening in the text. We might even have to look around in the book to find the answer, sometimes the answer might not even be in the book.

    Here are four types of questions regarding books:

1. Right There -
       The "Right There" question indicates that the question is in the book/text, or could be in another page/book.

2. Think and Search -
       The "Think and Search" question says that you think of an answer, but you'd have to point out several topics to connect your answer to the aftermath of the said event.

3. Author and Me -
       The "Author and Me" question means that the answer might not be obvious or in front of you, so that you have to think of an answer with the knowledge the author gave you in the story.

4. On My Own -
        The "On My Own" question means that the answer isn't in front of you and isn't obvious, and you don't know what would happen. So, you think of what would happen next in the story to the character, place, animal, etc. using your own understanding of the story.

Algebraic Expressions

Story Key Points pt. 1

  The sole purpose of this blog is to point out a few key points about the story "Kauri Island" tasked to the Wonder Group of 7/8 Mt. The key points will come out in bullet format and in full sentences. Enjoy.

  Kauri Island Key Points

• Characters:  The characters in the story are Thelma, her mother and her father, and a Maori boy, Tama(Tamati).
• Location: The story begins in New Zealand, in an island named "Kauri Island". 
• Expectations: Thelma had expected the island ugly - a boggy kind of green.
• Reality: A forest abundant with plants and trees.
• Thelma: She is a foreign, kind-hearted explorer(self-proclaimed) and she makes friends with a Maori boy named Tamati, she calls him Tama, for short.
• Tama: A friend of Thelma. Like her, he is also curious and kind-hearted. He is a Maori boy who had just encountered Thelma by accident while looking for a pig.
• Journal: Thelma's journal contains pictures of certain herbs and plants from the island.
